Until Then has partnered with the Non-Profit “Love Mercy”, to begin building water wells for regions in Kenya (and eventually the world) that lack clean drinking water.
Clean drinking water wells help local economies and promote healthier families. Many times in developing countries young children are forced to walk many miles in order to get the needed drinking water every day. This prevents the child from being able to go to school and also leaves the child in a vulnerable position as they are alone most of the day transporting water. Clean water projects help us to keep families together as well as keep children from needing to go to the streets.
Using a new drilling technique developed by Water for All International, that is extremely simple and incredibly cost effective, we can drill a well for about $1300 USD, in about a week. These simple wells can be managed by a local community and are made completely with parts that are locally found. This means no broken pumps, or wells that no longer function. We are excited as a team to provide clean drinking water to many communities that are in great need. Our first project is located in the Dago region of Kenya, which has one of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS in sub-saharan Africa.
Some of our water partners are The Water Fight (see below) as well as upstart sandal company Freewaters. If you are interested in learning more about this project or want to become a water sponsor, contact info@untilthen.org
